ITV Racing Host Ed Chamberlain Apologises for On-Air Gaffe by Brough Scott
The legendary racing journalist was sharing his insights when he stumbled over his words
An awkward blunder from ITV Racing pundit Brough Scott led host Ed Chamberlain to issue a live apology on air. The legendary racing journalist and broadcaster was sharing his insights on ITV before the day's races at Newmarket when he stumbled over his words, resulting in an unintended expletive.
Discussing the strength of the competition, the 81-year-old Scott stated:
"Just talking to Jeff Smith... he said this is as strong as he remembers. It's a really, really fascinating race this."
He continued by referencing another expert's analysis, saying: "I've known him for a long time, he's not a bulls***ter, pardon my French."
Host Ed Chamberlain quickly intervened, apologizing to viewers while acknowledging Scott's esteemed career in broadcasting.
"As you used to have to do, I apologise for my colleague's language a moment ago. He is very sorry as well, I'm sure," Chamberlain remarked.
Viewers quickly took to social media to react to the incident. One fan expressed shock: "Did Brough Scott just say 'bullster'?"
Another commented, "Ed Chamberlain s himself cause he didn’t want to pull up a racing legend such as Brough Scott."
A third viewer argued that the apology was unnecessary, saying:
"How many times do @itvracing have to apologise to the 'offended viewers' for the term 'bulls***'? Nil, my suggestion. @broughscott is a breath of fresh air, untainted by bulls***."
Despite the unintended slip, Scott's candidness added a layer of authenticity that many viewers found refreshing, even if it prompted a double apology from the ITV Racing team.
